Digital Desk: An IAF C-130J aircraft carrying 135 Indians from Port Sudan arrived in the Saudi Arabian city of Jeddah early Wednesday morning. This was the third such batch rescued from war-torn Sudan as part of Operation Kaveri.

The Indian government will shortly ease the return of these Indian people, according to MoS in the Ministry of External Affairs V Muraleedharan. Another IAF plane carrying 148 Indian people landed in Jeddah earlier today.

Recently, the Indian government launched Operation Kaveri to retrieve stranded individuals from Sudan, which has been plagued by significant bloodshed as a result of confrontations between the country's forces and the rebel RAF.

"Third batch comprising 135 Indians from Port Sudan arrived in Jeddah by IAF C-130J aircraft. Onward journey to India for all who arrived in Jeddah will commence shortly." V Muraleedharan tweeted.

The minister tweeted about another batch that landed in Jeddah, saying, "First IAF C-130J aircraft under #OperationKaveri from Port Sudan carrying 148 Indians landed in Jeddah. It's great to see the Indians having fun."

On Tuesday, the first group of Indians stuck in Sudan were evacuated as part of Operation Kaveri. With 278 people on board, the INS Sumedha sailed from Port Sudan to Jeddah. According to Foreign Minister S Jaishankar, India has initiated Operation Kaveri to rescue its citizens who have become stuck in war-torn Sudan.

According to Jaishankar, the government is "committed to assisting all our brethren in Sudan. The ministry stated that it is concerned about the safety of approximately 3,000 Indian citizens who are currently scattered across Sudan.

Sudanese violence erupted as a result of a power struggle between two major factions of the country's military leadership, killing over 250 people and injuring over 2,600 others in Khartoum and other locations. The fight involves both the regular army and the main paramilitary force, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). This condition has increased the likelihood of a civil war erupting throughout the country.
