It’s not the right time to blame each other: Kapil Dev reacts over Virat-Sourav controversy

Digital Desk: World Cup-winning former India captain Kapil Dev reacting to the differences between Virat Kohli and BCCI President Sourav Ganguly, said that Virat Kohli exposed his differences with the BCCI on the issue of captaincy at the wrong time as it created controversy ahead of the South Africa tour.

“It is not right to come in the media and point fingers like this. The tour is coming ahead; you should focus on that. The board president is in his place; the captain of team India is also a big thing. But it is not right time to point fingers against each other in public. Be it Sourav or Virat; they should control this situation. It is better that they think about the country at this time.” Kapil Dev said.

“What is wrong in one day will be known to everyone, but if you come in front and speak like this, then it’s not right. There should not be controversy ahead of the tour.” he added.

Interestingly, news were making rounds that there were splits between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma after BCCI sacked Kohli as the ODI skipper and handed the responsibility to Rohit last week.

Meanwhile, the BCCI official also confirmed the differences between them.

After BCCI replaces Virat Kohli with Rohit Sharma for the South Africa ODI series, the news gets more air.

However, refuting all the alleged rift with Rohit, Kohli made it clear that he was very much available for the ODI series against South Africa in January and nothing going on between him and Rohit Sharma.

On Thursday, team India left for South Africa and will be playing three-test series and three ODIs from December 26 to January 23 in the rainbow nation. While Kohli will lead the Team and Rohit, if he recovers from the hamstring injury, will captain the ODI side from January 19.
