    Digital Desk: The voting for the Karnataka Assembly elections ended at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. The total voter turnout was 65.69 percent as of 5 p.m., said the Election Commission of India (ECI) data.


    Reportedly, the Chickaballapur district had the highest polling rate with 76.64% while the BBMP (South) district had the lowest with 48.63%. Bangalore Rural received 76.10 percent of the vote until 5 p.m., with Bagalkot receiving 70.04 percent and Bangalore Urban receiving 52.19 percent. The EC also stated that B.B.M.P (Central) and B.B.M.P (North) had turnouts of 50.10 percent and 50.02 percent, respectively, until 5 p.m.


    The assembly elections would determine the electoral destiny of 2,615 candidates from different political parties. Today, polling for 224 Assembly constituencies began at 7 a.m. The incumbent BJP, Congress, and the JDS engaged in a high-decibel campaign phase in which they fought it out and used all of their heavyweights to win over votes.


    The vote will be counted on May 13.
