Digital Desk: A Kerala-born nurse who worked in Israel reportedly suffered injuries during an attack by the Palestinian terror organisation Hamas while she was on a video call with her husband, who is based in India.
When Hamas launched an unexpected and unprecedented attack on Israel early on Saturday, Sheeja Anand (41), who has lived in Israel for seven years, called her family in India to let them know she was safe.
She then called her husband again. An ominous booming noise in the background interrupted the call abruptly.
Later, a fellow Keralite informed Anand's family that she had been injured and had undergone surgery. Anand will be sent to a different hospital for a different surgery.
The partner of Anand and their two kids are in India. The wife's spouse works in Pune.
Over 200 residents of Kerala are currently safe and stuck in a Bethlehem hotel. As reported by the Malayalam newspaper Mathrubhumi, one of the group's members, Joy, claimed they heard the air raid sirens while at mass.
It has been requested that the group return to their Bethlehem hotel. They were slated to depart for Egypt on Monday, per their timetable.
There are reportedly 45 additional Kochi residents stuck in a hotel in Palestine. Mathrubhumi claims that the group is secure and has been granted permission to cross the border.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the Indian Ambassador to Israel have both been informed of the Israeli situation.
By air, land, and sea, Hamas, the organisation in control of the Gaza Strip, launched a sudden and unheard-of onslaught on Israel. Israel was attacked by Hamas after the terrorist organisation launched 5,000 missiles at it.
Over 1,100 people have already died in the three-day war on all sides, with more than 700 of those murdered in Israel and 44 of them being soldiers.
To destroy the hideouts of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, Israel began a counteroffensive on Saturday. While a few Hamas infiltrators were fighting with the Israeli military in southern Israel on Sunday, the nation continued to launch attacks around the region.
According to authorities, there have been no unpleasant incidences involving the 18,000 Indian nationals who reside and work in Israel.
Both the Representative Office of India in Palestine and the Indian Mission in Tel Aviv have issued warnings urging Indian nationals on their respective sides to "remain vigilant" and "directly contact the Office" in case of an emergency.
