Lakhimpur Kheri Incident: Accused Ashish Mishra gets bail from HC
Digital Desk: The Lakhimpur Kheri incident, which created sensations across the nation, has added a new development in the case. According to the sources, accused Ashish Mishra got bail from the Allahabad High Court's Lucknow bench after summons.

The son of Union Minister Ajay Mishra Teni, Ashish Mishra, was the prime accused of mowing down four farmers in Lakhimpur on October 3, last year.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the occurrence arrested Mishra on October 9 of last year in connection with Lakhimpur Kheri incident.

At the time of his arrest, DIG Upendra Agarwal told journalists, "Ashish Mishra was arrested because he was not cooperative throughout the interrogation and did not reply a few queries."

An FIR was registered against him and a few others associated with the incident, though the UP Police did not pursue charges against him until the Supreme Court carried up the matter.

Ashish Mishra's arrest came a day after the Supreme Court expressed its dissatisfaction with the state government's handling of the matter.

Four farmers were killed when a speeding SUV driven by Ashish Mishra mowed them down. A reporter who was covering the catastrophe was even killed.

In vengeance, three BJP workers were killed.

According to the Special Investigation Team probing the violence in Lakhimpur Kheri, there was a concerted plot to murder protesting farmers.
