    Leh receives the season’s first snowfall, check out the breathtaking pictures

    Leh: Tourists and locals were seen enjoying the season’s first snow on Friday, after Leh Ladakh was covered in knee deep snow.





    The entire regional was covered in a white blanket as people were seen walking through the snow, throwing balls of snow on each other.

    North India has been grappling with severe winter weather as cold wave hit the Northern part of the country, taking temperatures to below zero degree.





    Apart from Leh, Kashmir too reported of heavy snowfall. Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Zojila, Drass, Gurez, Razdan Pass, Peer Ki Gali, Mughal Road and other districts of Kashmir are heavily covered under snow.

    Tourists have shared breathtaking pictures of the crown of the North and shared them on social media platforms.





    As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the present weather conditions will likely remain the same for the next 24 hours.





    “Another snow spell of greater intensity is expected on December 26 and 27. Light to moderate snow expected in the plains of Kashmir, rain in Jammu,” the weather department tweeted.

    The weather department also reports of light snow in Leh Ladakh district in the next two days.





    Meanwhile, the temperatures have risen above the freezing point in Srinagar and many places in Kashmir after nearly one month. Sonum Lotus, director of MeT department said in a report, “As expected there is a significant rise in minimum temperature by 4-5 degrees Celsius in J&K and Leh Ladakh.”
