Liquor scam: Sunita Kejriwal declares Arvind Kejriwal will expose money trail

Digital desk: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's wife Sunita Kejriwal, stated on Wednesday that her husband will reveal the truth about the "so-called liquor scam" when he comes to court on Thursday. He will "show where the money" is in the swindle, she claimed, and he will also produce proof.

Following a meeting with her husband, who is now held by the Enforcement Directorate after being arrested on March 21 by the investigative agency over the now-canceled Delhi excise policy, Sunita Kejriwal gave a press conference today.

During the press conference, Sunita Kejriwal claimed that during the ED raid on the couple's Civil Lines neighborhood of Delhi, they discovered an insignificant sum of Rs 73,000.

She added that the ED has carried out more than 250 raids in connection with the "so-called liquor scam." They are looking for money through this purported fraud. Thus, they have not discovered anything.

"Arvind Kejriwal will reveal everything in court on March 28. He will tell the truth to the nation where the money from the liquor scam is. He will also provide proof."

"Two days ago, Arvind Kejriwal sent a letter to (Delhi) Water Minister Atishi regarding the water and sewer problems in Delhi," Sunita Kejriwal added.

"The Central government filed a case against him. Do they want to destroy Delhi? Do they want the people to keep suffering? Arvind Kejriwal is very pained by this."

Sunita Kejriwal called her husband a "true patriot, fearless and courageous person. Wishing him long life, health and success".
"'He says that although he is physically in jail, his soul is among the people."

The leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has challenged his detention and subsequent remand by the ED in a petition that was heard by the Delhi High Court on Wednesday. He claims these actions are "illegal". He was sent to ED custody until March 28 after his arrest.

The chief minister of Delhi further claimed in his appeal that the investigation team "violated his fundamental and human rights" and that at the time of his detention, the ED had not proven his guilt in the case.

Union Minister Anurag Thakur said to the ANI news agency in response to Sunita Kejriwal's comments, "When Lalu Prasad Yadav was caught in the fodder scam, Rabdi Devi used to make announcements, and then she caught hold of the chair gradually."

He also claimed that the AAP supremo is "in the swamp of corruption now" despite talking about ethics previously and also staging "hunger strikes against Congress' corruption".

"AAP's MP, health minister, deputy Chief Minister, education minister, and their MLC, everyone is in jail. Their Chief Minister and the kingpin of the liquor scam is also in jail," the Union Minister said.

He further added, "They used to demand that Sonia Gandhi should be taken into remand to get the truth out... He is so fond of his position as Chief Minister, that he is not able to leave it even while being jailed... Arvind Kejriwal is 'kattar beimaan'."
