Digital Desk: Polling for Phase 3 of the Lok Sabha elections concluded on Tuesday with a voter turnout of over 64.58 percent, the Election Commission data revealed.
Amit Shah, the Union home minister, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi were seen voting in Ahmedabad during the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections, which were held in 93 seats. While the election in ten states was peaceful, there were some violent incidents in West Bengal.
Home Minister Shah, the BJP's candidate in the Gandhinagar seat, followed PM Modi. He is running for the Gandhinagar seat as an MP for a second consecutive term.
The voting took place on 93 seats in Phase 3: Assam (4), Bihar (5), Chhattisgarh (7), Goa (2), Gujarat (26), Karnataka (14), Madhya Pradesh (8), Maharashtra (11), Uttar Pradesh (10), West Bengal (4), Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu (2).
The Election Commission of India reports that voter turnout was approximately 64.58 percent in 12 states and Union Territories. With an 81.71% voter turnout, Assam had the highest percentage. On the other hand, Uttar Pradesh had the lowest turnout, at 57.34 percent.
In this phase, about 1300 candidates were contesting, including over 120 women among them.
