    Due to allegations that Tipu Sultan and Mughal emperor Aurangzeb have been glorified, communal tension has broken out in several Maharashtrian cities.
     
    Digital Desk: A person has been arrested by Mumbai Police on Sunday for allegedly uploading Mughal emperor Aurangzeb's image as his WhatsApp profile picture, police said. The accused works at a mobile service centre.

    According to the police, Amarjeet Surve reported a complaint after receiving a snapshot of someone reportedly using Aurangzeb's photograph as their profile picture. To emphasise the current situation in the state surrounding Aurangzeb, Amarjeet, a member of a Hindu group known as the accused, whose number was displayed at the top of his profile photo, asked him to remove the picture.

    According to reports, the accused claimed to be disturbed and made a promise to delete the profile photo. Later, Amarjeet observed that it wasn't taken removed. After that, Amarjeet filed a complaint against him at the Vashi police station in Navi Mumbai.

    The police then registered a complaint under sections 298 (Uttering words, etc, with deliberate intent to wound religious feelings) and 153-A (Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), after which the accused was detained, questioned and then released. No one has been taken into custody as of yet in connection with the case.
