Manipur violence shameful, politicising it even more shameful: HM Amit Shah
Shah rejected the calls for the resignation of Manipur's chief minister and stated that Biren Singh was collaborating with the federal government to improve the state's circumstances.

Digital Desk: Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that the BJP was always open to talks on the Manipur violence and accused the Congress of politicking the incident. He also stated in his address to the Lok Sabha that the violence in Manipur was decreasing and urged the Opposition "not to add fuel to the fire" during the debate on the no-confidence resolution.

"I concur that ethnic confrontations have occurred in Manipur, as the opposition claims. Manipur violence is disgusting, and making it political is even more despicable," speaking in the Lok Sabha about the incidents in Manipur, Amit Shah remarked.

He stated, "I request the Opposition not to add gasoline to the fire. The situation has improved in the states. Rahul Gandhi visited Manipur to engage in politics. Rahul Gandhi refused our request to travel to Churachandpur by helicopter and instead chose to travel by road, where he was subsequently halted by Manipur Police."

Shah rejected the calls for the resignation of Manipur's chief minister and stated that Biren Singh was collaborating with the federal government to improve the state's circumstances.

"When a state CM is uncooperative, he ought to be replaced. The Centre has been cooperating with this CM," Shah remarked.

The opposition, he continued, "sought ruckus rather than a productive discussion" and never wanted to discuss the matter.

"I was prepared for a conversation on the Manipur problem from the start, but the Opposition was never interested in having one. The opposition wants to stop me from speaking, but they are powerless to do so. Since 130 crore people choose us, they must pay attention to what we have to say. Curfew was never necessary during the previous six years of our administration, according to the Union Home Minister.

He charged the opposition with creating a "false perception" that the administration was trying to avoid discussion.

The Union Minister cited an April High Court decision that instructed the state administration to consider including the Meitei people on the Scheduled Tribes (ST) list as justification for the violent conflicts. Shah stated, "The order only made things worse."

After Amit Shah's two-hour address on the no-trust motion, the Lok Sabha has been adjourned. On Thursday, the discussions will resume at 11 a.m.
