Manish Sisodia’s CBI custody extended by another 2 weeks in the Delhi liquor policy case
The CBI detained Sisodia on February 26 in connection with suspected corruption in the preparation and implementation of the now-cancelled Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22.

Digital Desk: In the Delhi Liquor Policy case being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation, a Delhi court on Monday extended former Deputy Chief Minister Sisodia's judicial detention for two weeks (CBI).

The CBI appeared in court and requested an extension of Sisodia's judicial custody, citing the case's critical stage of investigation. The judge granted the agency's request and remanded the AAP heavyweight until April 17.

A special CBI court denied Sisodia's bail request in the excise policy scam last week, saying he was "prima facie the architect" and played the "most important and vital role" in the criminal conspiracy involving the alleged payment of advance kickbacks of around Rs 90-100 crore, intended for him and his colleagues in the Delhi government.

M K Nagpal, a special CBI judge, had stated that Sisodia's release would "adversely influence the ongoing probe."

Meanwhile, after Sisodia was denied bail in the excise policy scam case, top AAP leader and Rajya Sabha Member Sanjay Singh stated the party will file a petition in the Delhi High Court.

The CBI detained Sisodia on February 26 in connection with suspected corruption in the preparation and implementation of the now-cancelled Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22.

The Enforcement Directorate apprehended Sisodia on March 9 in Tihar jail, where he was being held in connection with the CBI investigation.
