Manish Sisodia jabs CBI for 'leaking information' against Arvind Kejriwal
Sisodia, who was previously arrested by the ED and CBI in the same case but granted bail by the Supreme Court earlier this month, pointed out these inconsistencies.

Digital Desk: AAP leader Manish Sisodia accused the CBI of leaking information to the media to create "headline management" against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the excise policy case. Sisodia criticized the central probe agency, claiming it was "dancing like a puppet" to the BJP's agenda to keep Kejriwal imprisoned.

Sisodia alleged that while the CBI requested a 14-day delay for their response to a bail plea in court, they simultaneously provided their reply to the media, ensuring it became a prominent headline the following day.

Sisodia, who was previously arrested by the ED and CBI in the same case but granted bail by the Supreme Court earlier this month, pointed out these inconsistencies.

On Friday, the Supreme Court postponed until September 5 the hearing of Kejriwal's two pleas: one for bail and one challenging his CBI arrest in the excise policy case. The CBI has filed a counter affidavit in response to only one of these pleas, with Additional Solicitor General SV Raju stating that the counter to the other plea will be submitted within a week.

Senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi, representing Kejriwal, noted that the counter affidavit was delivered late on Thursday, leaving insufficient time for a rebuttal. The CBI's counter affidavit, made public, argued that Kejriwal might tamper with evidence if granted interim bail and accused him of attempting to politicize the case.

The CBI's affidavit claimed that as a prominent politician and Chief Minister, Kejriwal could influence witnesses and evidence or obstruct the ongoing investigation.

The Delhi High Court had previously rejected Kejriwal's pleas on August 5, advising him to seek bail from the trial court. The Supreme Court also denied Kejriwal bail on August 14 and requested a response from the CBI. The AAP leader had been granted interim bail by the Supreme Court in the ED case last month. Kejriwal was arrested by the CBI on June 26 while already in judicial custody in the ED case.
