Minister of Defence of India Rajnath Singh warns terrorists

Saturday, Rajnath Singh asserted that India will not hesitate to take action
against terrorists crossing the border.

At a felicitation ceremony for veterans of the
1971 India-Pakistan War, Mr Singh said the government was working to wipe out
terrorism in the country.

He said India has succeeded in sending out the
message that terrorism will be strongly dealt with. We will not hesitate to
cross borders if the country is attacked from outside.

color:#2E2E2E">Mr Singh also said that the eastern boundary of the country is
currently experiencing more peace and stability compared to the western
frontier, with Bangladesh being a friendly neighbour.

does not exist along eastern boundary as Bangladesh is a friendly
country," he noted.

color:#2E2E2E">"The problem of infiltration has almost ended. There is
peace and stability at the border (in the eastern frontier) now," the
minister said.

According to the defence minister, whenever the
situation improved, the government removed the Armed Forces Special Powers Act
(AFSPA) from various areas in the northeast.

According to Singh,
there is a "public misconception" that the Army has always wanted
AFSPA to be in force. "The imposition of AFSPA is a consequence of the
situation, not the Army," he said.
