Digital Desk: A group of National Cadet Corps (NCC)were allegedly brutally thrashed in the rain as part of punishment during training at the Vidya Prasarak Mandal's college in Maharashtra's Thane.
Social media users have been sharing a video of the incident that depicts the students being brutally punished while they were begging for help.
The video depicts an unidentified senior NCC trainer beating four students who were face down in a puddle amid rain.
Senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Jitendra Awhad commented on the situation. He expressed shock over the alleged incident and demanded that the government must5 take immediate responsibility.
"This is incredible... Such a thing is happening... In this case, we demand strict action," Awhad told reporters in Mumbai.
According to reports, the Vidya Prasarak Mandal (VPM) authorities or the principals of the associated colleges -- KG Joshi-NG Bedekar College and B.N. Bandodkar College -- were not available for comments.
According to locals, the NCC training is provided jointly to students from the three colleges at a common location on the Joshi-Bedekar campus in order to prepare them for eventual careers in the army and navy.
According to the video, some senior trainers assaulted the unidentified students with a stick while forcing them to lie down on the ground full of rainwater and muck, or forced to stand in the muddy water.
