Digital Desk: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief named Supriya Sule and Praful Patel as working presidents of the NCP on Saturday. Mr Pawar announced the declaration at the party's 25th anniversary, which he and PA Sangma launched in 1999.

Ajit Pawar, an important person in NCP, was also present and witnessed the event when it was made.

Sharad Pawar volunteered to quit the party's presidency last month, prompting outrage from party members and other political figures.

On May 5, an NCP panel was formed to consider Mr Pawar's resignation offer which was later rejected and he was encouraged to remain as the party president.

The NCP has employed working presidents for the first time in its history, since Sharad Pawar has led the party on his own for the last 24 years, since it was founded on June 10, 1999.
