Digital Desk: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi stated on Thursday that Jawaharlal Nehru is known for the work he did and not simply for his name, despite the intense political debate surrounding the renaming of the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library.
The Congress MP said that Nehru Ji is known for his work rather than just his name.
On Tuesday, the 77th anniversary of India's independence, the government changed the name of the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML) in New Delhi to the Prime Ministers' Museum and Library Society.
The decision to rename the building is "in tune with the democratisation and diversification of the remit of the society," tweeted A Surya Prakash, vice chair of the executive council of the Prime Ministers' Museum and Library.

The government came under fire from Congress, which said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was "distorting and destroying" the Nehruvian legacy.
"He (Modi) removed N and replaced it with P. That P is truly for pettiness and peeve," the Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh stated.
The NMML Society had a special meeting in mid-June where the decision to change the name was made. The Union Culture Ministry had announced it at the time, stating, "Housed in a new building, the museum then goes on to recount the tale of how our Prime Ministers led the country through numerous problems and secured the overall progress of the country. It acknowledges every Prime Minister, democratising the institutional memory."
