    Nine dead, three injured after landslides hit Himachal Pradesh following heavy rainfall

    Shimla: At least nine people have been reported dead while three others injured when landslide-related incidents hit Sangla-Chitkul road in Himachal Pradesh following heavy rainfall in the region. Multiple incidents of landslides accompanied by boulders rolling down the mountains and hitting bridges and vehicles were reported damaging houses and vehicles standing stationary.





    Spine chilling images and videos of landslides shared by tourists and locals stranded in the landslides went viral in social media.





    A tempo traveler ferrying tourists from Chitkula to Sangla was hit by one such landslide wherein all the occupants of the vehicle died on the spot including the driver. Another person was on the road was also injured in the incident.





    The incident was reported near Batseri on Sangla-Chitkul road around 1:25 pm.





    While eight of the tourists died on the spot, another succumbed on the way to the hospital. The PMO has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the victims' next of kin and Rs 50,000 as financial aid for the injured.
