Digital Desk: On Tuesday, police said that Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road and Transport, had received a threat by landline at his official residence on Motilal Nehru Road in New Delhi.

"Union minister Nitin Gadkari received a death threat over the phone Friday night at his Delhi home. The matter is currently being investigated by police, since Delhi Police were notified by the minister's office, according to a tweet from ANI.
The cops allegedly checked the phone records immediately after that. Security personnel are reportedly keeping a close eye on the minister's home.
3 threat calls in 5 months: On January 14, a threat call mentioning mafia don Dawood Ibrahim was received by Gadkari's public relations office in Nagpur, Maharashtra. In one and a half hours, the caller made three calls and threatened and demanded Rs. 100 crore. The threat caller's phone number was tracked by the Nagpur police to a jail in Belagavi, Karnataka. The person who made the threat went by the name Jayesh Pujari, also known as Jayesh Kantha.
On March 21, Nitin received a new phone threat. The Nagpur office was contacted. The defendant claimed to be Jayesh Pujara. Unlike before, the caller sought Rs 10 crore. The phone number of a woman who works in event management was tracked down. Jayesh Pujara was incarcerated alongside the girl's companion.
