No Possibility to Repeal CAA: BJP

New Delhi: After Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dramatic announcement to repeal the farm laws, Union Minority Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi stated that the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) would not be repealed on Sunday.

As per The Print, Naqvi said, “There is no way that the law will be repealed as it has got nothing with the citizens of India.”

He added that people are playing minority politics in the name of CAA.

CAA is not about taking away citizenship from the people but providing Indian citizenship for Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, Parsis and Christians who were oppressed minorities in Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan, Naqvi said.

Moreover, refuting all the allegations around the CAA, the Union Minister said that people’s religious, social, educational, and constitutional rights are safe in India as they are stakeholders in the nation’s development.

Notably, Naqvi remark came two days after Prime minister Narendra Modi on November 19 announced the repeal of the three farm laws.

After announcing the repeal of the farm laws, various politicians and organizations have demanded that CAA has to be repealed.

In a rally on Sunday, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi asked the Centre to scrap the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), warning that if not scrapped, protestors will make another Shaheen Bagh in the state.

CAA protest took around the country in December 2019, which shook the state of Assam. Significantly, the Assam groups are not the only ones asking for a rollback of CAA. The Jamaat-e-Ulema-e-Hind and Amroha MP Danish Ali have also asked for the same.
