Digital Desk: An Odisha-based private news channel Odisha TV launched an AI-generated news anchor named 'Lisa'. An artificial woman dressed in an Odisha handloom saree will present news both in Odia and English for OTV Network's television and digital platforms, a company release said.

As per the company's statement, OTV is gifting Odia television journalism its first Artificial Intelligence (AI) news anchor, Lisa.

Though Lisa is fluent in several languages, for the time being, she will only present news in Odia and English for the network's television and digital platforms.

According to a release, "Efforts are underway in the coming days to make Lisa more proficient in Odia. On all of the major social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram, you can find and follow Lisa."

The company's Digital Business Head, Litisha Mangat Panda stated that educating Lisa in Odia was an enormous task that we were able to do.

"However, we're still working on it. We're hoping to train her to the point where she can easily interact with others," she said.

Earlier, in April, Kuwait media outlet, Kuwait News had launched their first artificial intelligence (AI) generated news presenter "Fedha". "Fedha" emerged on the Kuwait News website's Twitter account as an image of a woman, her light-colored hair revealed, wearing a black jacket and a white T-shirt. Kuwaiti News is associated with the Kuwait Times, which was established in 1961 as the Gulf region's first English-language daily.

Meanwhile, the rapid expansion of AI around the world has raised both the promise of benefits, such as in health care and the elimination of monotonous activities, and anxieties, such as the potential spread of disinformation, threat to particular jobs, and harm to artistic integrity.
