Digital Desk: The opposition leaders walked out of the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday after the Chair did not admit their notices to suspend the listed business and resume discussion on the Manipur issue. Soon after the listed papers were tabled, Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar stated that he had received 58 notices under Rule 267 of the Rajya Sabha demanding a discussion on the ongoing situation in Manipur.

He stated that the notices were not accepted, prompting opposition members to protest.

As the Chair proceeded with the scheduled Zero Hour, the opposition members walked out of the House.

The Lok Sabha was adjourned until 2 p.m.

The Lok Sabha proceedings were adjourned till 2 p.m. on Wednesday as opposition MPs continued protests over the Manipur issue.

Protests started as soon as the House met for the day. During Question Hour, many opposition members were in the Well of the House, shouting slogans and displaying placards.

Two questions and their supplementary were raised amid the din.

Midhun Reddy, who was in the chair, asked the members to allow Question Hour to take place. As the protests continued, the hearings were delayed in less than 20 minutes, till 2 p.m.

Since the Monsoon session began on July 20, parliament activities have been delayed by protests over the issue of violence in Manipur.
