Digital Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Sunday that "our hearts and minds are filled with pride, hope, and promise" as the New Parliament building was inaugurated.

"As the new building of India’s Parliament is inaugurated, our hearts and minds are filled with pride, hope and promise. May this iconic building be a cradle of empowerment, igniting dreams and nurturing them into reality. May it propel our great nation to new heights of progress" Modi wrote on Twitter.

Modi dedicated the new Parliament building to the nation by unveiling the inauguration plaque. Modi also presented traditional shawls and mementos to construction workers before the ceremony.

Meanwhile, 'Sarv-dharma' prayers are being held at the new Parliament building, with priests of all faiths reciting traditional verses.

Earlier, after doing puja, Modi erected the hallowed 'Sengol' in the new Lok Sabha chamber, directly next to the Speaker's chair.

During the inauguration ceremony, he also bowed in respect before the 'Sengol' to signal the start of the ritual.

Adheenams handed him the famous 'Sengol' before it was installed in the new Parliament building. The 'Sengol' was set as the Amrit Kaal's national symbol.

It needs to be mentioned that it is the same 'Sengol' that was accepted by India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, on the night of August 14, in the presence of other political leaders.

All invited visitors, including members of Parliament, the Lok Sabha Speaker and Rajya Sabha, the chairman, and other notable guests, were anticipated to be seated in the Lok Sabha chamber in the newly built building at 11:30 a.m.
