Digital Desk: In a symbolic handover of the G20 presidency, Prime Minister Narendra Modi handed over the gavel to Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who praised India for providing respect to rising economies' concerns.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded the G20 meeting in New Delhi on Sunday by handing over the gavel to Brazil, which will assume the bloc's Presidency.

"I want to congratulate Brazil's president, my friend Lula da Silva, and hand over the gavel to him," the Prime Minister remarked.

He congratulated Brazil on its next presidency. Brazil will officially assume the chairmanship of the elite grouping on December 1, this year.

"We cannot let geopolitical issues sequester the G20 agenda of discussions," Lula remarked after the bloc's annual conference in New Delhi. "We have no desire for a fragmented G20. Instead of strife, we need peace and cooperation," he added.

PM Modi proposed a virtual G20 gathering towards the end of November to review the recommendations and choices made at the leaders' summit, which finished here on Sunday.

According to PTI, the Prime Minister stated that India's G20 leadership would formally continue till November 30 and that the country has more than two and a half months remaining to serve as the group's leader.

"In the last two days, you have expressed your opinions, made comments, and made a lot of offers. "It is our responsibility to closely examine the suggestions that have been made to see how they can be accelerated," PM Modi stated.

"I propose that we hold another G20 meeting virtually at the end of November." We can go over the problems that have been agreed upon during this summit during that session. Our teams will share the specifics with everyone. "I hope you will all attend this (session)," he added.

PM Modi concluded the ceremony by reciting a Sanskrit shloka in which he prayed for optimism and peace throughout the world.
