While standing for a picture with the leaders of BRICS nations—Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, Modi noticed that the Indian Tricolor had fallen to the ground. He immediately picked it up and carried it with him.

Notably, PM Modi and Chinese Premier Xi Jinping were seen standing apart in the BRICS Summit group photo, while South African President Cyril Ramaphosa folded hands.
Along with PM Modi and President Jinping, other BRICS leaders joining in the photo were Brazilian President Lula da Silva and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
