Digital Desk: The Ministry of Finance (MoF) said on Thursday that a unique 75 cent will be issued to honour the inauguration of the new parliament building. The commemorative coin will be revealed on Sunday by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a tribute to India's 75th anniversary of independence.

The Lion Capital of the Ashoka Pillar will be featured on one side of the coin, with the inscription "Satyamev Jayate" below it. On the left side, the word "Bharat" will be written in Devanagari script, while on the right, the term "India" will be written in English.

The coin will also include the rupee symbol and the denomination value of 75 in international numbers printed beneath the Lion Capital. The other side of the coin will depict an image of the parliament complex. The words "Sansad Sankul" will be written in Devanagari script on the upper periphery and "Parliament Complex" in English on the lower periphery.

The coin will be round in shape, having a diameter of 44 millimetres and 200 serrations along its edges. The 35-gram coin will be comprised of a four-part alloy consisting of 50% silver, 40% copper, 5% nickel, and 5% zinc.

PM Modi is inaugurating the new parliament building on Sunday. While up to 25 opposition parties are likely to attend the ceremony, at least 20 have vowed to boycott it.

The Congress, Aam Aadmi Party, Left, Trinamool, and Samajwadi Party, among others, have indicated that they will boycott the inauguration since a new building has no significance when the "soul of democracy has been sucked out."

The opposition parties objected to Prime Minister Modi's plan to inaugurate the new parliament building rather than being inaugurated by President Droupadi Murmu.

The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) slammed the opposition's decision to boycott the inauguration as a "blatant affront to the democratic ethos and constitutional values of our great nation."
