Previous governments had no faith in ISRO, says Ex-scientist Nambi Narayanan
Who else can be credited when working on a national project? It is the Prime Minister. You may not like the Prime Minister. That is your problem," Nambi Narayanan stated.

Digital Desk: Nambi Narayanan, a former scientist of the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) said that the previous Congress government did not provide enough funding for the Indian space agency during its early years because it had "no faith" in Isro.

On social media, there is a video of Nambi Narayanan discussing Isro in its early years. Even the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) tweeted the footage of the former scientist discussing funding given to Isro in the past while speaking to The New Indian.

According to Narayanan, money for the space agency was only given by the government when Isro proved its reliability.

No jeep was available to us. We did not own a vehicle. Nothing was available to us. That implies that there was no budgetary allocation. That was from the start, he said.

"The budget was given; it was not asked. Although they (the government) didn't have any faith in you (Isro), I wouldn't complain about it," he added.

    NAMBI NARAYANAN ON PM MODI

In response to claims made by the Opposition that Prime Minister Narendra Modi claimed credit for the historic Moon landing, Nambi Narayanan stated that for a national project such as Chandrayaan-3, who else could be credited if not the Prime Minister.

Who else can be credited when working on a national project? It is the Prime Minister. You may not like the Prime Minister. That is your problem," Nambi Narayanan stated.

Also questioned was the ex-Isro scientist regarding the veracity of claims that salaries for space scientists were not being paid on schedule.
According to Nambi Narayanan, who receives his pension on the 29th of every month, there is never a delay in the crediting of salary or pensions.

    CONGRESS VS. BJP OVER CHANDRAYAAN-3

Prime Minister Modi has assured higher finances for India's space programmes, BJP leader Amit Malviya said, who released footage from the interview on X.

"From then to now...when Prime Minister Modi has ensured increased budgets and stands with our scientists, in their successes and failures, India's space missions have come a long way," he wrote.

The Congress had attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for "hogging the limelight" in reference to his address following Chandrayaan-3's successful lunar landing on August 23.

Congressman KC Venugopal had asked in a post on X, "You were quick to come on screen and take credit after the landing, but why has your government failed so terribly in supporting the scientists and the ISRO?"
