Punjab Elections 2022: Conjoined twins cast two votes, goggles keep secrecy
Digital Desk: Punjab Elections 2022: Sohna and Mohna, conjoined twins, voted individually for the first time on Sunday in Manawal, Amritsar. An official informed that they were handed goggles to maintain the voting privacy of each other.

"It's a one-of-a-kind situation. EC advised us to use professional filming. They're joined together, but they're two separate voters. Arrangements were made to provide them with goggles so that voting privacy could be preserved," said an official.

Last year, Sohan Singh and Mohan Singh, usually known as Sohna-Mohna, marked their 18th birthdays. After the Election Commission treated them as two voters, they were handed two voter ID cards.

The conjoined twins were born on June 13, 2022, and they were left at a Delhi hospital by their natural parents. The twins have two hearts, two sets of arms, two sets of kidneys, and two sets of spinal cords but shares only one liver, gall bladder, spleen, and one set of legs.

They were eventually sent to AIIMS, where doctors opted not to separate them because doing so could have resulted in the death of one of them. They were later sent to Amritsar's Pingalwara residence.

After earning their electrician diploma at an ITI, Sohna and Mohna were hired by the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited last year.
