Rahul Gandhi receives death threat before Bharat Jodo Yatra's entry into MP

Digital Desk: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi received a death threat on Friday before Bharat Jodo Yatra's entry into Madhya Pradesh. Rahul Gandhi has been threatened with a bomb attack as soon as he arrives in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

A letter threatening Rahul Gandhi's death was found outside a sweet store in Indore's Juni police station area. Meanwhile, police have begun scanning the area's CCTV footage for the person who left the letter outside a sweet shop.

Police stated that a case under Section 507 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against an unidentified person, and an inquiry has been initiated. The accused in this case may be charged under the NSA.

The warning letter came a day after Rahul Gandhi attacked Veer Savarkar, claiming that he aided the British rulers and filed a mercy appeal to them out of fear. The Wayanad MP's comments generated a debate, drew wrath, and led to demonstrations.

Showing a copy of Savarkar's letter seeking mercy, he added, "Savarkar ji wrote in it: I beg to remain, sir, your most obedient servant. When he signed this letter, what was the reason? It was fear. He was afraid of the British."

Following that Savarkar's grandson filed a police complaint against Rahul Gandhi in Mumbai on Thursday for "insulting" his grandfather. The leader of a Shiv Sena group, Uddhav Thackeray, stated that his organization has great respect for VD Savarkar and that he criticizes Rahul Gandhi's comments about Savarkar.

Meanwhile, Tushar Gandhi, Mahatma Gandhi's great-grandson, joined Rahul Gandhi in the Bharat Jodo Yatra on Friday morning at Shegaon in Maharashtra's Buldhana district. The Bharat Jodo Yatra is nearing the end of its journey in Maharashtra and will enter Madhya Pradesh on November 20.

Reportedly, Thane police in Maharashtra has filed a defamation complaint against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his remarks on freedom fighter V D Savarkar. The FIR was registered in response to a complaint filed by Vandana Dongre, a member of the Shiv Sena group led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
