Digital Desk: The Election Commission on Wednesday issued a new schedule for the Rajasthan Assembly elections moving the date from November 23 to November 25. The elections will be held in a single phase and results will be out on December 3.
The poll panel announced that it was changing the date due to weddings and "social engagements" that day. The polling day of November 23 was declared by the polling panel on Monday.
"Representations have been received by the Commission from various political parties, social organisations and also issues raised in various media platforms for change of date of poll considering large scale wedding, social engagement on that day which may cause inconvenience to a large number of people, various logistics issues and may lead to reduced voter participation during the poll," the Election Commission stated in a release.

RAJASTHAN ASSEMBLY POLLS Of 2018
Rajasthan's assembly elections were held on December 7 in a single phase. With 100 seats, the Congress emerged as the lone largest party, only one seat shy of a majority. In comparison to the 2013 elections, when they had gained an absolute majority with 163 seats, the BJP only managed to win 73 seats.
The Bahujan Samaj Party and other parties helped the Congress build the government after that. Senior Congressman Ashok Gehlot was sworn in as Rajasthan's new chief minister, while Sachin Pilot was named as Gehlot's deputy.
