Digital Desk: Uber, Ola, and other ride-sharing apps have frequently faced criticism for driver misconduct and a lack of basic customer service. Another such incident has just come to light, this time with a Rapido driver who was accused of harassing a woman on Whatsapp.
A Twitter user claimed that a Rapido driver harassed her after she revealed her location to him via WhatsApp and he proceeded to text her. The screenshots unleashed by her showed sleazy texts where he urged the woman not to call him "bhaiya".
The viral screenshot of the Rapido driver sparked widespread indignation on social media, with users blasting Rapido and labelling the driver as cheap and filthy. The corporation also responded to the now-viral screenshot.
This story angered internet users, who urged Rapido to take appropriate action against such drivers and to strengthen security for their female passengers. Rapido Help Care also responded to the situation once the tweet went viral.
"Hello, it is quite unfortunate for us to learn of the captain's lack of professionalism, and we apologize for the same," Rapido Care wrote. This issue will undoubtedly be addressed as soon as possible. Would you mind sending me your registered phone number and ride ID via DM?" Rapido care further added the statement.
This follows on the heels of a similar allegation involving a Swiggy delivery person who texted inappropriate things to a woman after bringing goods to her door.
