Security tightened at Red Fort ahead of Independence Day

The security of the historic Red Fort fully tightens up as Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation on the occasion of 75th Independence Day on Sunday. The security ring that includes SWAT commandos, kite catchers, canine units, NSG Snipers, and sharpshooters on High-rise buildings have been placed around the Mughal-era-fort, and following social distance norms will be just like last year due to COVID-19.

The Indian Olympic Players will be present at the red fort as special guests on 15th August.

More than 350 Cameras have been installed around the Red Fort Area and the footage is being monitored through two police control rooms and there will be around 5,000 security personnel at the red fort following all social distancing norms.

A huge wall of shipping containers decorated with graffiti is erected for the first time by Delhi Police at the main gate of Red Fort due to security reasons. The containers are placed in such a way that no one can peek inside the Red Fort when PM Modi addresses the nation.

The move came after protestors driving tractors entered the Red Fort and hoisted a religious Flag on Republic Day 2021.

The security at the Delhi borders has also been tightened up where thousands of farmers have been protesting for several months against the center’s new agri laws.

The Red Fort has been closed for the general public and the Delhi Police have also issued an advisory for the Independence Day function at the Red Fort to ensure the general public does not face any issue with the traffic throughout the city.
