Year Ender 2022: Taking a look back at some Spectacular moments that made the nation proud
Here is a summary of some of the events that made us proud to be Indian as the year comes to an end...

Digital Desk: Goodbye 2022 and hello We're left with some dreamlike recollections from the year 2022 and also wish that the upcoming years be filled with abundant good health and wellness.

This year was all about conflict and Covid, from seeing the repercussions of the Russia-Ukraine war to seeing a new coronavirus type shake China and alarm the rest of the world and India. But there were other occasions for joy.

With an increase in Covid-19 cases in the first quarter of the year, some horrifying crimes that rattled the country, and floods and landslides that claimed many lives, it was a rollercoaster year for India. However, it was also a year in which we witnessed some incredible moments that made the nation proud.

Let's have a look at those proud moments from the Year 2022:

    1| THE G20 PRESIDENCY

When India was elected to lead the G20 group for the upcoming year, it was an honour for the nation. During a ceremony in Bali, Prime Minister Narendra Modi received the G20 presidency from Indonesian President Joko Widodo.

In over 50 venues, India will hold over 200 meetings across 32 different work streams. When discussing the subject, Prime Minister Narendra Modi remarked, "The G20 Presidency of India would seek to advance this sense of unanimity among all people. Thus, "One Earth, One Family, One Future" serves as our theme."

He added that every Indian person should be proud of themselves for becoming the group's presidency.

2| EOS-06 Satellites Got Initiated BY ISRO

The Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) carried nine satellites, including eight nanosatellites, when the Indian Space Research Organization (Isro) launched it at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota on November 26, 2022.

It was the fifth and last launch of the PSLV in 2022, and it was the 56th flight of the rocket from India. It was the third generation Oceansat satellite, weighing approximately 1,117 kg.

It was developed to extend Oceansat-2's services with increased payload capability. The satellite's payloads include the Ocean Color Monitor (OCM-3), Sea Surface Temperature Monitor (SSTM), Ku-Band Scatterometer (SCAT-3), and ARGOS.

    3| India Welcomes 5G Network

Another significant milestone in 2022 was the inauguration of India's 5G network. The DoT announced the availability of 5G services in 13 important cities.

Network service providers Jio and Airtel are aiming to deploy 5G services throughout the country.

While Mukesh Ambani's Jio unveiled Stand Alone 5G services, Airtel debuted Non-Stand Alone 5G services in India.

    4| Mirabai Chan's Gold Medal

Nothing makes Indians happier than a sportsperson bringing gold to the country. Mirabai Chanu, a silver medalist in the Tokyo Olympics, won gold in the women's 49kg at the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham, extending India's medal run in weightlifting this year.

She won India's first gold medal at Birmingham 2022 in England. She lifted a total of 201 kg in snatch, clean, and jerk.

5| CHAK DE INDIA! Indian Women's Hockey team wins FIH Women’s Nations Cup

The Indian women's hockey team wrote history by winning the FIH Women's Nations Cup, a true Chak De India moment.

The women's hockey team won the championship with a 1-0 victory over Spain in the final on December 17. They secured the country's place in the 2023-2024 Pro League with their victory.

The women demonstrated they were no longer pushovers in world hockey by going undefeated in the Nations Cup, putting up excellent performances to retain their Pro League position.

After winning the cup, the team celebrated by grooving to DJ Bravo's Champions song.

    6| INS VIKRANT COMMISSION

The launch of India's long-awaited indigenous aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant, moved the country closer to becoming a worldwide force. It was a big achievement for the country, as well as a boost to the Aatmanirbhar Bharat movement.

It was dedicated to the greatest fighter of its time, Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj, and launched on September 2, 2022, at the Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL).

It is India's largest ship and is made up of 70% indigenous parts. The name comes from India's first (foreign-sourced) aircraft carrier, which was employed in the 1971 war against Pakistan.

Vikrant was designed by the Indian Navy's in-house Warship Design Bureau (WDB) and built by Cochin Shipyard Limited, a Public Sector Shipyard under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways. It has 18 storeys, 14 decks, and 2,300 compartments.
