Digital Desk:  Governor of Tamil Nadu, RN Ravi has criticized DMK politician RS Bharathi for his "insulting" comments directed towards the Naga community, in which the latter referred to them as "dog eaters".

A few days earlier, Bharathi made some disparaging remarks about Governor Ravi at a party, accusing him of causing difficulties and delaying bills.

The DMK leader stated, "The governor RN Ravi was chased away by the Nagas from their land. Those who eat dog meat could chase the governor out of the state. So, we must not forget how much more self-respect Tamils who eat their food with salt have".

In response, the governor's office responded to him as "scurrilous and unacceptable" on the social networking platform X.

"Nagas are brave, honest, and dignified people. It is ludicrous and irresponsible for Thiru R S Bharathi, a prominent DMK leader, to openly disparage them as "dog eaters. I urge Mr Bharathi not to hurt a community that the people of India take great pride in, the statement read.

From 2019 to 2021, RN Ravi served as the Governor of Nagaland.
