Digital Desk: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy tendered his resignation from the Lok Sabha on Friday, according to official sources. The Chief Minister, representing the Malkajgiri Parliamentary constituency in Telangana, met with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla this evening to formally submit his resignation.
Accompanied by the party's whip and Member of Parliament Manickam Tagore, Revanth Reddy visited the Parliament House to complete the resignation process. Reddy, who was recently elected as an MLA from the Kodangal assembly constituency in the just-concluded assembly elections, took the decision to step down from his Lok Sabha seat, adding a new chapter to his political journey.
Sources suggest that besides the resignation, Revanth Reddy is likely to meet with the party's general secretary, K C Venugopal, to discuss various issues ahead of the first assembly session in Telangana. The agenda is expected to include crucial matters such as the implementation of the six guarantees promised by the party during the recent poll campaign.
The resignation comes just a day after Revanth Reddy was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Telangana, taking the oath along with a deputy chief minister and other ministers. The swearing-in ceremony, held on Thursday, witnessed the presence of top Congress leadership, including party chief Mallikarjun Kharge, former party chiefs Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, as well as the Chief Minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah.
As Revanth Reddy heads back to Hyderabad tonight, his decision to step down from the Lok Sabha seat adds an element of intrigue to the political landscape in Telangana. The upcoming discussions with party leaders are anticipated to shed light on the Chief Minister's vision and priorities for the state in the days to come.
