Digital Desk: In yet another incident of violence against a woman, a tribal woman in Rajasthan's Pratapgarh district was allegedly beaten and paraded naked by her husband and in-laws, and a video of the incident has gone viral on social media.
The horrible incident reportedly occurred on Thursday at the Pahada Gram Panchayat's Nichalkota village under Dhariyavad police station limits in the district.
The Director General of Police (DGP) Umesh Mishra said, "The matter came to the notice of the police on Friday evening after a video of the incident surfaced online. The district superintendent of police, the inspector general of police, the SHO of the police station concerned along with other police officers immediately reached the village shortly after the video went viral."
The victim, who had been married a year ago, alleged that she had started living with another man in the village.
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot condemned the incident and stated that those responsible "will be put behind bars as soon as possible."
While giving details about the incident, DGP said, "The in-laws of the woman committed this inhuman act. They kidnapped her and took her to their village. They were annoyed as she had gone away somewhere else after the marriage."
The DGP claimed that after the woman was abducted, her husband beat her, stripped her, and paraded her around the village for almost a kilometer.
Additionally, he stated that "some of the women from her in-law's side were also seen involved in the incident and that all the persons accused in the matter will be arrested soon."
Mishra further added that CM Gehlot has also issued directions to take strong action against the suspect in the incident and that the accused in the case would be nabbed shortly.
Ashok Gehlot, the chief minister of Rajasthan, took to platform 'X' and said, "In Pratapgarh district, a video of a woman being stripped naked by her in-laws has surfaced amid a family dispute between her family and her in-laws."
He further wrote, "The DGP has been instructed to send ADG Crime on the spot and take strict against the matter. There is no place for such culprits in a civilized society. These criminals will be put behind bars as soon as possible and will also be punished after being prosecuted in a fast-track court."
