Digital Desk: Two precious rocks from which the statue of Lord Ram will be sculpted and put in the sanctum sanctorum of Ram Temple arrived late on Wednesday in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya.
According to the specifications, the saints of the holy town will celebrate and dedicate Dev Shilas today.
"These 60 million-year-old Shaligram rocks will be transported to Ayodhya by two separate lorries from Nepal. One rock weighs 26 tonnes, while the other weighs 14 tonnes " Prakash Gupta, office in-charge of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, said on Wednesday.
The carved stone statue of Lord Rama in his child's form will be put in the main temple of the Ram Mandir, which is slated to be completed by the Makar Sankranti festival in January next year, according to officials.
According to the researchers, the two rocks were discovered in the Gandaki river near Saligrama or Muktinath (place of salvation) in Nepal's Mustang province.
Meanwhile, a two-day meeting of the Ram Temple's building construction committee began on Saturday in Ayodhya.
The meeting was presided over by Nripendra Mishra, Head of the construction committee, and was attended by Trust Secretary Champat Rai and Trustee Anil Mishra.
According to the sources, the temple construction progress was evaluated, and discussions were held about the installation and carving of Lord Ram's new idol.
