Digital Desk: The Uttar Pradesh (UP) government has filed a report to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) detailing the April 15 shooting that killed gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf in Prayagraj. Reportedly, the report was sent after a meeting between Sanjay Prasad, the Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
The exact details of the report that was submitted to MHA have not been disclosed. However, the report is anticipated to include details of the incident's nature and any actions taken by the UP government to address it.
Chief Minister Adityanath has postponed all of his scheduled programs for the day as he keeps an eye on the situation in the state. A meeting with members of the BJP had been scheduled for today, however, it was cancelled now. Officers have also been directed to report every two hours to provide status updates on the situation.
In light of the event, all UP ministers' security has been strengthened, and they are presently not permitted to meet with anyone. It's possible that this action is an effort to avoid any possible breaches of security or interference with the ongoing inquiry.
Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf, both imprisoned in Prayagraj, were killed in front of cameras crews on Saturday. When the incident happened, police officers were escorting the Ahmed brothers to a medical college in Prayagraj for a checkup.
