Digital Desk: Days after the Shraddha murder case shocked the country, a similar incident occurred in Uttar Pradesh where a man was arrested on allegations of killing and chopping his ex-girlfriend into six pieces before dumping them into a well.

But Prince Yadav, the suspect, was shot while attempting to flee the location where police had taken him to identify the woman's head. Prince Yadav had been carrying a locally made pistol.

In a gunfight with the police on Sunday while being taken to a location for the collection of the woman's head, Yadav was hit by a bullet, according to police, who were quoted by the news agency PTI.

On November 15, several residents found the dismembered body inside a well outside of Paschimi hamlet, bringing the incident to light.

According to Superintendent of Police (Azamgarh) Anurag Arya, the victim, known as Aradhana, was found in a semi-naked state and seemed to be two to three days old.

Yadav planned the murder with the assistance of his relatives, especially his cousin Sarvesh. The accused, who was in a romantic relationship with the victim, planned to kill her for marrying someone else instead of him.

Yadav had brought Aradhana to a shrine on his bike on November 9. When they got there, he killed her in a sugarcane field with Sarvesh's help. According to police, the two then chopped her body into six pieces, placed them in a polythene bag, and dumped them into a well.
