Women look good even if they wear nothing, Says Baba Ramdev: Gets notice from women's commission
Baba's controversial remarks were fiercely condemned by Neelam Gorhe, the deputy chairperson of the Maharashtra Legislative Council, who claimed they revealed his incorrect attitude toward women.

Digital Desk: Yoga guru Ramdev Baba made a drastic statement on women, saying that women look good even if they wear nothing. Following his statement, the chairman of the Maharashtra State Women Commission, Ms. Rupali Chakankar, served Ramdev Baba with a notice on Saturday demanding him to clarify his views on women after taking a serious note on his controversial statement.

"Women look good in sarees, women look good in salwar suits, and in my eyes, they look good even if they wear nothing," Baba said at the function in Thane on Friday in the presence of Chief Minister Mr. Eknath Shinde's son and MP Mr. Shrikant Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Devendra Fadnavis's wife Ms. Amruta Fadnavis.

"The Commission has been informed that one of your comments was disrespectful and violated the honour and respect of women. The commission's office has received a complaint. As a result, per sections 12 (2) and 12 (3) of the Maharashtra State Commission for Women, 1993, the commission orders Baba Ramdev to provide the commission office with an explanation of his statement within three days," wrote Ms. Chakankar in a letter to the yoga master.

Neelam Gorhe, the deputy chairperson of the Maharashtra Legislative Council, vehemently denounced Baba's controversial comments, claiming they showed his wrong attitude toward women.

"He preaches to society about moderation and the benefits of yoga, yet his treatment of women is so contaminated that it is completely unacceptable. Not all men have this perspective on women. In her daily life, a woman interacts with several guys in her home, including brothers, friends, and colleagues. But it is unfortunate that so many men in our nation who identify as gurus have said such nasty things, she said.

The wife of the deputy chief minister and other women present, according to Ms. Gorhe, should have objected to the yoga guru's remark.

A protest was organised by the Nationalist Congress Party to protest Ramdev Baba's remark. Women workers garlanded Baba’s photo with a pair of chappals.

Notably, Mr. Sachin Sawant, the general secretary of the state Congress, stated that the statement by the yoga guru revealed his true mindset.
