The UGC-NET examination cycles for December 2021 and June 2022 (merged cycles) have been integrated by the NTA with UGC clearance, enabling them to be administered jointly via computer-based testing (CBT).

The UGC merged the NET test for the June 2021 and December 2020 cycles. The last UGC-NET was held in June 2020. Nearly 12.67 lakh people applied for the UGC NET cycle this year, and they will be sitting their exams in computer-based test (CBT) format across India in 213 cities and 469 centres.

For the purpose of awarding junior research fellowships (JRF) and/or determining eligibility for assistant professorships, the UGC-NET exam is being conducted for 81 test papers.
