Digital Desk: On Thursday, it's more than ten days after two people were killed in a terror attack on Kabul's Gurdwara Dashmesh Pita Guru Gobind Singh Karte Parwan on June 18, a group of 11 Afghan Sikhs will arrive in Delhi.
"The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) is enabling the transfer of Afghan minorities to India in collaboration with us," said Puneet Chandhok, president of the Indian World Forum.
According to SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami, a group of 11 Afghan Sikhs will arrive in Delhi today. "SGPC is paying for their air travel because it is critical to evacuate Afghan Sikhs from Afghanistan safely," he explained.
The ashes of Sawinder Singh, who died in the June 18 attack, are also being transported to Delhi, where his family currently lives. Raqbir Singh, who was injured in the attack, is among the group of eleven.
According to Chandhok, SGPC representatives and Afghan Hindu and Sikh community leaders will be present at the airport.
Following the March 2020 attack on the Gurdwara Har Rai Sahib in Kabul, hundreds of Afghan Sikhs and Hindus were evacuated in batches.
Following the June 18 attack, the Indian government issued 111 visas for their evacuation to Delhi, while the rest are still pending.
