The country-wide death toll has touched 1,136 as of Monday, with over 1,634 injured, according to the latest data issued by the National Disaster Management Authority, the chief national body tasked to deal with calamities.
It stated that around 992,871 houses were completely or partially destroyed, leaving millions without food, clean drinking water, or shelter.
The United Nations and the cash-strapped Pakistani government have joined forces to launch a quick appeal for USD 160 million to address the disaster that has become the "ground zero" of global warming.
