Digital Desk: A tragic incident took place last week; a 27-year-old businessman was out for a ride to reportedly test the speed of his uncle's new BMW car when he collided with a WagonR, which overturned and crashed on people sleeping under a flyover in South Delhi, killing two minors and injuring eight others, according to police.
On June 10, the event occurred at the Lodhi Road Flyover. The WagonR's occupants were also hurt, according to police. The accused allegedly fled the scene and was apprehended a few days later.
Around 4.30 a.m, police received a PCR call, according to police. "We found that a black BMW had hit a WagonR, which subsequently flipped and fell on people sleeping under the flyover," DCP (Southeast) Esha Pandey said. They were taken to the AIIMS Trauma Centre, where two of the youngsters, Roshni (6) and her brother Amir (10), were pronounced dead. "The others were also badly hurt."
Yatin Sharma, the WagonR driver, informed police that he was with three of his pals at the time. "I am a student who also works as a public relations booster." I was driving with my buddies from Samrat Hotel to Surya Hotel today. We crossed the overpass around 4.30 a.m. when a black automobile collided with our car on the right side. My automobile was pulled to the end of the flyover and slammed into a pedestrian walkway. The impact was so strong that it toppled over and landed on people sleeping on the sidewalk. Both my pals and I were hurt. People assisted us, and we witnessed others being trampled under the car. According to the FIR filed in response to Sharma's allegation, "the car driver left from the Moolchand side."
According to police, no eyewitnesses other than the injured people had no recollection of the black car.
"The CCTV cameras near the flyover were inoperable. We then examined cameras in the vicinity of the Oberoi Hotel, Lodhi Road, and Barapullah. After CCTV mapping and analysis of over 120 cameras, the car was recognised as a BMW. The owner was found and told us that the automobile was with his nephew Sahil Narang (27), who had given it to a company in Noida for servicing. Sahil was apprehended at his home in Nirman Vihar. DCP Pandey stated, "The BMW was taken from the authorised repair centre."
During questioning, Sahil told police that he and his uncle were on their way from the airport and wanted to test the car. "The offending vehicle was just bought." "Sahil was testing the car's speed and control when he collided with the WagonR," the DCP explained.
Sahil has been charged with causing death by negligence and rash driving. According to cops, he recently earned his graduation and owned a garment business in Noida.
