This is part of a worrying trend of bomb threats that have targeted schools across Delhi, Gurgaon, and Noida since May 2024.
Digital Desk: Just a day before the Delhi Assembly election results were to be announced, it brought distressing bomb threats to schools in Noida and Delhi alongside St. Stephen's College. Emergency bomb and dog squads were rushed to the locations to assess the situation. School security guidelines required all students to exit the buildings and provided an entire day off because trained search teams searched the facilities.
The affected educational institutions included Ahlcon International School Mayur Vihar Phase 1 and Shiv Nadar School Noida quickly warned their student populations regarding the security hazard. The educational institution needs to conduct complete sweeps through the premises to maintain student well-being so the school remains closed for the entire day a message from the school declaration stated. The educational institutions instructed their students to stay home during the school day but sent returning students home.
In addition to schools, a bomb threat was also sent by an email at 7:42 AM and was directed at Delhi University's administration of St. Stephen's College. The Delhi Police officially validated the security threat as police bomb squads worked to investigate the matter. The source of the threatening email remains under investigation by senior police authorities together with their cyber team members.
Delhi together with Gurgaon and Noida has faced repeated bomb threats at their schools for five months starting in May 2024. A total of 40 educational institutions in Delhi received bomb threats in December 2024 which led to mass public distress and increased security presence throughout the city.
