By lighting over 15 lakh earthen lamps, Ayodhya breaks Ujjain's record.

    Digital Desk: On
Deepotsav, the eve of Diwali, Ayodhya shattered Ujjain's and its own prior
records by lighting 15.76 lakh (1.57 million) earthen lamps at Ram Ki Paidi and
other ghats on the Saryu riverfront. This milestone was set in the presence of
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who complimented Yogi Adityanath on his
accomplishment. The Ayodhya administration achieved a Guinness World Record in
2021 by lighting 9,41,551 diyas at Deepotsav.

    The much-anticipated deepotsav
festival in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya is in full gear ahead of Diwali. While a
laser show and colourful lights set the tone for the three-day celebration, the
grand finale will be the lighting of 17 lakh diyas (earthen lamps) at the Ram
Ki Paidi ghat on Sunday. On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the
chief guest at the festival, which is being organized by the UP tourism and
culture department. The grand deepotsav lighting, which has been taking place
since 2017, will also seek to achieve a Guinness World record.

Every year since its beginning, a
record number of clay lamps (diyas) have been lit on 'deepotsav,' with 17 lakhs
likely to set a world record this year.

    UP CM Yogi Adityanath examined
preparations and emphasized crowd management and the safety of women,
children, and international artists participating in the event.

Last year, a global record of 9,51,000
earthen lamps were lit on the banks of the Saryu river in Ayodhya, setting a
    new record.

Ahead of Diwali, the temple town has
been beautified, and hoardings and banners from the Ramayana period have led visitors down memory lane about the festival's significance.

Following PM Modi's arrival in Ayodhya, there will be a huge
arti on the banks of the Saryu river, followed by the launch of 'deepotsav
    2022.'
