    Central Water Commission issues orange alert in Assam and Bihar
    According to information gathered by the Union Home Ministry's Disaster Management Division, floods hit 2389 villages in Assam across 28 districts in the last 24 hours. 

    Digital Desk: The Central Water Commission (CWC) on Wednesday issued an orange warning in Assam after the water levels of two major rivers in Assam, including Buridehing and Brahmaputra, were flowing above the danger level mark.

    As per the CWC reports, Buridehing in the Tinsukia district and the Brahmaputra in the Sonitpur and Jorhat districts are both flowing above the danger level. However, according to the CWC, "the water level of Kopili and Barak at Badarpurghat is falling, while the water level of Barak at Annapurnaghat, Kushiyara at Karimganj, and Beki at the Beki road bridge is steady."

    A similar situation has been found in Bihar also. According to the CWC, water levels are also rising in the Mahananda at Chargharia, Parman at Araria, Mahananda at Dhengraghat, Kamalaban at Jhanjharpur, and Kosi at Birpur. Assam and the other northeastern states are expected to witness heavy rainfall during the next 24 hours, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). At remote locations in East Uttar Pradesh, heavy to very heavy rainfall and extremely heavy falls are also predicted.

    According to information gathered by the Union Home Ministry's Disaster Management Division, floods hit 2389 villages in Assam across 28 districts in the last 24 hours. At least 2492913 other people were affected, and five of them died. According to the research, 139 people have died in Assam so far this monsoon season as a result of floods and landslides.

    Notably, according to the research, several deaths have also resulted due to floods, landslides, lightning, and other incidents during the current monsoon season in states like Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Meghalaya, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh.
