Cleaning the Yamuna is our prime responsibility, and we will deliver on the promise we made to the people of Delhi.
Digital Desk: The government plans to ban car-wash soaps or detergents in Delhi wastewater during upcoming months to decrease toxic levels.
The potential ban stands as a crucial element of the Yamuna River cleanup campaign which the BJP government promised before the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.
A government public awareness campaign will take place before the complete ban on car wash takes effect.
Impacts of the effects:-
The prohibition of car wash soaps and detergents would effectively decrease phosphates along with surfactants and additional chemicals that enter the wastewater system. The substances result in water contamination that generates eutrophication, it damages aquatic ecosystems while making the river more toxic. The implementation of such a ban could improve the water quality since most wastewater from Delhi empties into the Yamuna River.
Our primary responsibility toward the Yamuna includes its proper cleaning thus we will honor our promise to Delhi citizens said Water Minister Parvesh Verma. Every measure regardless of scale will be undertaken for Yamuna River . We aim to establish a city-wide ban on car-wash products which we will soon implement as part of our plans.
The program will establish new car wash facilities throughout specific locations to give people alternative choices.
Our initiative involves education and enforcement of the plan together with additional measures. The establishment of car wash centers with sewage treatment plants (STPs) within particular locations is among the plans. People can acquire affordable car-washing services at the facilities while the center treats the wastewater on the spot," Verma explained.
Awareness Campaign
Delhi Jal Board (DJB) land will be used to establish car-wash workshops with wastewater treatment systems that operate before the water enters drainage systems. The proposed system includes placing car wash centers on upper floors with an STP installed on the ground floor.
