Digital Desk: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Rekha Gupta has been named as the next chief minister of the national capital, which will mark BJP's comeback in Delhi after 27 years. She was elected from the Shalimar Bagh constituency in the recently concluded Delhi Assembly polls, following her victory against Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) Bandana Kumari by a margin of 29,595 votes.

The first-time MLA Rekha started her political career in the year 1992. She started from Daulat Ram College of Delhi University with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). In 1996-97, she became the President of the Delhi University Student's Union.
In 2007, she became the councilor from North Pitampura. She worked for the improvement of local facilities such as libraries, parks, and swimming pools in the North Pitampura area. She also worked for economically weaker female students and led initiatives for women's empowerment.
She served as General Secretary of BJP Mahila Morcha in Delhi. Born in 1974 in Jind district of Haryana, Rekha's father was a bank employee and she moved to Delhi when she was just 2 years old.
