Droupadi Murmu’s hometown all set for celebration as India to get its 15th president today
A local BJP leader said that as part of the festivities, 20,000 laddus are being made and 100 banners celebrating Murmu have been placed.

Digital Desk: As the votes of the presidential election will be counted today, Droupadi Murmu, the NDA's presidential candidate, has already started preparing for victory against Yashwant Sinha, the opposition candidate, in Rairangpur, Odisha, her hometown.

After the declaration of the result, Murmu's village organized a victory procession, a tribal dance, and the distribution of sweets.

At 11 a.m. today, the counting of ballots for the presidential election will start in room 63 of Parliament House, and the results will be announced straight away. The election was held on July 18.

Only those with valid passes will be permitted entry into the counting hall, including counting officers, staff members assigned to assist the Rajya Sabha Secretary General, candidates, and one authorized representative for each candidate, election commission observers, counting officers, and candidates. The election's returning officer is PC Mody, secretary general of the Rajya Sabha.

After all of the MPs' votes have been counted, Mody will give a briefing on the polling trends.

On Tuesday night, all voting boxes from state assemblies arrived at the Parliament's strongroom and have been locked there ever since. The ballot boxes came from all throughout the country and were flown into the capital as "Mr. Ballot Box."

The Election Commission allowed 736 voters, including 727 MPs and 9 MLAs, to cast ballots in Parliament House. Of these, 728 voters—including 719 MPs and 719 MLAs—voted. In total, 98.91 percent of voters cast ballots at Parliament House.

If Murmu is elected, the BJP will stage a massive "Abhinandan Yatra" from the Delhi BJP office on Pant Marg after the results are announced to celebrate her victory. JP Nadda will serve as the rally's leader.

The roadshow will start from the BJP office in Delhi on Pant Marg to celebrate Murmu's almost certain victory in the presidential election.

A local BJP leader said that as part of the festivities, 20,000 laddus are being made and 100 banners celebrating Murmu have been placed.

If elected, Murmu will be the first tribal woman to hold the nation's top constitutional position. The current president, Ram Nath Kovind, will leave office on July 24.

Notably, the new president will take the oath on July 25.
