ED on search of four missing cars from Arpita Mukherjee's house

The vehicles were reported missing by ED officials from Mukherjee's apartment in south Kolkata.

Digital Desk: According to officials, the Enforcement Directorate (ED), which has already recovered almost 50 crore rupees from two apartments owned by Arpita Mukherjee as of Thursday, is now looking for four missing cars.

A Mercedes, an Audi, and two Honda City vehicles are on the list.

According to ED officials, the vehicles from Mukherjee's apartment in south Kolkata's parking lot had vanished. The agency has already taken one car parked in the basement.

One Audi that was parked in the cellar was impounded. The search for other automobiles is ongoing. CCTV footage is being examined, an official declared.

The ED has already arrested Mukherjee, a model who later became a close associate of former West Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee.

On July 22, the federal agency raided Mukherjee's south Kolkata flat and seized 21.9 crores in cash, 79 lakh in gold, and 54 lakhs in US dollars.

On July 27, the ED seized 27.9 crores in cash and gold worth 4.31 crore from another flat of Mukherjee in Kolkata's northern outskirts.

Meanwhile, two real estate firms have been investigated by ED officials.

Officials seized documents that revealed they were registered in Mukherjee's north Kolkata flat.

According to officials, while one of the companies share capital was around 1 lakh when it was floated in 2017, the last balance sheet and AGM of the companies were in 2021.

Previously, the ED had seized documents about three companies in which Mukherjee and her brother-in-law Kalyan Dhar were both named directors.

However, an investigation revealed that Dhar used to be her driver.

Dhar, a school dropout, claimed that he was unaware he was one of the three company directors.

On Friday, the ED is expected to question Sukanta Acharya, a former officer on special duty during Chatterjee's tenure as state education minister.

Manik Bhattacharya, a TMC MLA and former chairman of the state primary education board, is also expected to be questioned. The pair had previously been questioned.
